In the ancient courtyards of the Kathmandu Valley, history is carved into every strut and timber. This collection is my visual ode to the master woodcarvers of the Newari civilization. Using the precision of archival ink fineliners and the organic fluidity of pencil and watercolors, I aim to translate the texture of aged wood onto paper.
Whether it is the sharp, definitive lines of archival ink tracing the curves of a deity on a roof strut, or the soft gradients of watercolor depicting the grain of a carved window, these works capture the play of light and shadow on centuries-old architecture. They are an attempt to preserve the stillness and the intricate beauty of a heritage that stands the test of time.
These works are my personal connection to the ancient geometry and spiritual artistry that define the valley’s skyline.
