This is a project developed over several years of traveling between Nepal, Thailand and Indonesia. Most of the photographs were taken using a full spectrum camera with different IR or ND filters, some others on a medium format film camera.
The Monsoon season brings a dramatic transformation to the landscape between the Himalaya and the ocean, creating a canvas where nature paints its most vivid contrasts. As the Monsoon clouds gather, the sky turns into a theatre of thundering performances, with lightning illuminating the towering peaks of the Himalaya. Down below, the once calm blue ocean waters begin to dance with vigor, stirred by the winds of change. The horizon blurs as rain curtains descend, marrying the sky and sea in a misty embrace.
The beauty of this interaction lies in its ephemerality. Each year, each month, each day, each minute, the Monsoon creates a different wonder, leaving behind stories etched in the rings of ancient trees or in the patterns of sediment along riverbeds. It's a reminder of the impermanence of life and the constant flux of nature. In this grand spectacle, one can witness the sheer power of the elements and the delicate balance that sustains life on our planet. The Monsoon, the ocean, and the Himalaya – each an individual marvel, but together, they create a masterpiece of interdependence and sublime beauty.
